How to cast flowers in epoxy resin? - Superclear Epoxy Resin Systems

Casting flowers in epoxy resin is a delicate process that preserves their beauty in a clear, solid form. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Dry the Flowers: First, thoroughly dry the flowers. This can be done using a desiccant like silica gel or by pressing the flowers. Ensure they are completely dry to prevent decay inside the epoxy.
  2. Prepare the Mold: Choose a mold for your project. Silicone molds are great for this purpose as they are flexible and easy to demold.
  3. Mix the Epoxy: Using our Superclear Table Top Epoxy, mix the resin and hardener in a 1:1 by volume ratio. Mix thoroughly to ensure a consistent blend.
  4. Pour the First Layer: Pour a thin layer of epoxy into the mold and let it cure slightly. This base layer prevents flowers from floating to the top.
  5. Arrange the Flowers: Once the base layer is tacky, carefully place your dried flowers in the mold. Use tweezers for precise placement.
  6. Pour Remaining Epoxy: Gently pour Liquid Glass Deep Pour Epoxy over the flowers. Be sure to cover them completely.
  7. Remove Bubbles: If bubbles form, gently pass a heat gun or a torch over the surface to pop them.
  8. Cure the Epoxy: Allow the epoxy to fully cure as per the product guidelines.
  9. Demold and Finish: Once cured, carefully remove the epoxy piece from the mold. Sand or trim any rough edges if necessary.
