How to cast epoxy resin? - Superclear Epoxy Resin Systems

Casting epoxy resin, especially for large projects like river tables or thick casts, involves a specific process to ensure a successful outcome:

  1. Choose the Right Epoxy: Select a deep pour epoxy resin, like our Liquid Glass Deep Pour Epoxy, specifically formulated for deep casting.
  2. Prepare Your Workspace: Work in a well-ventilated area, cover your workspace to protect it, and wear protective gear like gloves and safety glasses.
  3. Measure and Mix: Follow the product instructions to measure and mix the resin and hardener accurately. Mix thoroughly but gently to avoid introducing too many air bubbles.
  4. Pouring: Pour the epoxy slowly into your mold or cavity. For very deep pours, it may be necessary to pour in layers, allowing each layer to partially cure before adding the next. This helps to control heat buildup and reduce the risk of cracking.
  5. Remove Bubbles: Use a heat gun or torch to carefully pass over the surface to pop any air bubbles. Do this several times during the initial stages of curing.
  6. Curing: Allow the epoxy to cure as per the instructions. Deep pour epoxies have longer curing times due to their depth and volume.
  7. Post-Curing Work: Once fully cured, you can sand, drill, or shape the epoxy as needed for your project.

Deep pouring requires patience and attention to detail, especially in mixing and curing times, to achieve a clear and bubble-free result.
