Disclaimer:
This form is intended to save you the hassle of completely rebuilding, taping, spraying releasing agent, and finding clever ways to clamp your work in place. These forms will produce a blank, not a finished product. This form is intended to make setting up and resetting for your next pour as quick and efficient as possible to maximize work flow. It is not intended to produce a final piece that is ready to sell.
Due to the slick nature of the HDPE, there will be minor manufacturing “scuff” marks on the surface of the form. These marks will transfer to your resin but will be planed and/or sanded away very easily when working the blank to final thickness. These scuffs will in NO way affect your final piece.
Integrated Leveling System:
The leveling system consists of 2 bubble levels. The bubble levels help you visually adjust your form to be level, regardless of your workspace.
Instructions for Use:
Removing the Blank from the Form:
With this design and epoxy’s inability to adhere to the HDPE, it is only necessary to remove one of the two short sides of the form. Both sides are removable if your blank gives you any trouble.
To remove your blank, remove the end cap(s) by removing the 3 bolts on the side you have chosen to remove. These bolts are paired with galvanized steel threaded inserts to ensure the long life of your form. This means the removing and reinserting of the bolt will not wallow out the plastic from repeated use, like regular screws would do.
Take a wide chisel or putty knife and place the chisel blade, flat side against the HDPE, at the point where the blank meets the form’s bottom piece, then lightly tap the chisel with a hammer. The blank will pop lose from the form and you will be able to pull it from the form very easily. If your thicker blank is giving you a bit of trouble and needs a little added encouragement, you can remove the other end cap the same way.
Resetting the Form for the Next Pour:
Take the end cap(s) that you removed and clean the old RTV off of the end cap. Apply a new continuous bead of RTV with the included tube. Reattach the end cap to the form, tightening the 3 bolts until you get a small amount of RTV squeeze out. Clean the squeeze out with a large diameter straw, and then let sit over night (or 12 hours) for the RTV to set and you are ready for another pour!
